Advanced Classes

7:30PM-8:30PM

An advanced Taekwondo class typically builds on the foundational skills and techniques learned in earlier levels, emphasizing control, precision, and more complex movements.

Here’s what you can generally expect:

1. Warm-Up & Stretching: Classes start with an extensive warm-up to increase flexibility, strength, and stamina. This might include dynamic stretches, mobility drills, and light cardio.

2. Advanced Kicks & Techniques: You will refine and perfect your kicks, punches, and strikes. Expect to practice intricate footwork and combinations of techniques, such as spinning kicks, jumping kicks, and advanced patterns (poomsae).

3. Poomsae (patterns): Patterns become increasingly complex, with more intricate movements, stances, and transitions. The emphasis is on speed, accuracy, and the fluid execution of each sequence, as well as understanding the underlying principles.

4. Sparring: In an advanced class, sparring is more intense and strategic. You’ll likely engage in controlled, high-intensity sparring with partners who can offer a greater challenge. You may also practice advanced counter-attacks and defensive tactics.

5. Self-Defense Techniques: These may be incorporated at higher levels, focusing on practical applications of Taekwondo techniques in real-world situations.

6. Conditioning & Strength Training: Expect a higher level of physical conditioning that includes exercises to improve core strength, explosiveness, and endurance.

7. Testing & Advancement: You may have opportunities to test for higher belt ranks, which could involve demonstrating your skills in forms, sparring, and other areas, depending on the school's requirements.

Overall, advanced classes are about refining your technique, pushing your physical limits, and deepening your understanding of Taekwondo’s philosophy and application. The pace is usually quicker, and the challenges are greater, requiring focus, discipline, and consistency.
